Bedroom Fairy Lights: Lighting the Way to Dreamland
How many of us have children who don’t like to sleep in the dark – or who like to have their bedroom doors left open, or need a night light plugged into a socket to make them feel safe? Well, one of the United Kingdom’s more enterprising companies has decided to offer something of an alternative solution to the problem of bedtime and lights – by creating a rather wonderful range of bedroom fairy lights to go alongside its already legendary range of children’s beds. Sandman Beds designs and makes its own bespoke beds for children, including a superb range of children’s bunk beds, has started to expand its bedroom furniture theme to include accessories and extras – of which the fairy lights are the first.
Neither a night light nor an open door – are really ideal solutions to that problem of not wanting to sleep when all the lights go out. The night light is either too bright, when seen at close quarters: or it sheds light in all the wrong directions, because it has been designed to be plugged straight into a wall socket six inches off the ground. Opening the door a little can let in enough noise to prevent a child from sleeping no matter how light or dark it is. Bedroom fairy lights, though, which can be strung like stars from the ceiling, or wrapped around a bed canopy, offer just the right amount of comforting, pretty light – and in the right place to be seen as the child drifts off to sleep. His or her little head hits the pillow in one of those children’s bunk beds we noted earlier: and the little one falls asleep with those lovely warm twinkling lights as the last thing that he or she sees; leading him or her quietly and happily down the path to some very pleasant dreams.
A set of bedroom fairy lights (which come in all sorts of awesome guises – white daisies, pink flowers, angels, racing cars and submarines, for starters) will set you back no more than a set of shop bought, impersonalised fairy lights – i.e. around £20. The effectiveness of fairy lights in making a room seem cosy and inviting is undeniable – you only have to think back to your memories of Christmas to realise that the little winking lights, warm and coloured or white and magical, were always one of the strongest and most comforting parts of making the home seem like a wonderful place to be. Because they don’t emit a great deal of actual light, bedroom fairy lights promote this air of warmth and security, surrounding your children’s bunk beds with a magical trail of little glowing dots, flowers and angels – without being distracting or stimulating in any way. They make a room seem cosy, a safe retreat from the rest of the world.
What a wonderful way to beat those bedtime blues. No more tantrums no more upset and no more fear of the dark – just tiny trails of lights leading your little ones on a safe path to good dreams.
